The students from an international school based in Kuala Lumpur learnt that there’s a lot more to the underwater world than just being a diver and enjoying the sights of the marine world.

Through the AWARE Coral Reef Conservation course they now know the important role coral reef has within the marine ecosystem.

This knowledge is vital for divers and marine enthusiasts alike. The students gained an understanding of the current state of the planet’s coral reef systems, factors influencing their health and how they can make a difference.

The session was aptly followed by a coral planting session where the students helped to place damaged coral on cement blocks to be replanted later. These broken corals were already collected by the Downbelow team during their dives and would otherwise have perished.

Downbelow loves conservation and we are not stopping in spreading the message “Coral for Life“!
