Daniel and Danielle, our two Go PRO interns, will complete their Search and Recovery scenario as part of their PADI Divemaster course today.
Paul Jones, one of our PADI IDC Staff Instructors and part of our Go PRO team, will conduct various scenarios with the interns to prepare them for their Go PRO career!
During the dive, they will perform practical skills to test their abilities of organisation, leadership and sound judgement. The skills involve navigating search patterns and finding different sized objects. They will learn how to tie different knots and understand the purpose for each one and lift an object safely to the surface with a lifting device.
By PADI Standards, the object cannot be heavier than 10 kilograms during training for safety reasons. However, Paul will be supervising directly underwater whilst the interns perform the skills also.
The skills they accomplish will be extremely valuable when they join net removal dives that Downbelow conduct whenever an illegal fishing net is found on a reef in the marine park.
Environmental conservation is a responsibility shared by all PADI professional divers. Daniel and Danielle are very lucky to be in one of our Go PRO internship programs to be able to experience real-life diving situations and how scuba diving education is put to practical use.
Be careful not to separate when you’re saving the underwater world one net at a time!
