Our new SCUBA diving interns make the most of their unlimited divingGaya Island, Kota Kinabalu: Our two new professional SCUBA diving interns, Paul and Dan, have been eagerly maximising the unlimited diving that we include in all our SCUBA internships here at Downbelow in Borneo.

The very day that Paul arrived here at our PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Centre on Gaya Island, he buddied-up with Dan and joined an Advanced Open Water course we were running at the beach house.

The rest of the day they spent diving our House Reef, which is a walk-in shore dive away from the dive centre and immediately saw a turtle!

The House Reef is a pristine coral reef, which gently slopes to 20m at its deepest, but otherwise lies at a depth ideal for leisurely exploration dives and some Borneo photography.

Our interns can spend as much time under water as their air and bottom time allows, which at the comfortable depth of our House Reef, could be as long as two hours.

We may have to start checking them for gills soon…
