removing-illegal-nets-borneo

It was another good day of doing good deeds for mother nature.

Downbelow staff joined by our Divemaster & PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) interns successfully removed yet another illegally dumped fishing net from the reef within the protected area of Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, Kota Kinabalu.

After a thorough briefing by resident Platinum PADI Course Director Richard Swann the team set off and efficiently removed the destructive menace.

Over the years the Downbelow crew assisted by various pro volunteers have removed around 100 nets from the reefs around the park & will continue to do so whenever we find them or when they are reported to us.

Thanks to all the team on a job well done with a particular mention for Vui How & Beth for taking the pictures thus allowing us to submit a report to the authorities.

It sure feels great to give something back to the ocean so join in with your local dive operator & help clean up our seas.. together we can make a difference!
