Gap Year students Group 1 arrive a the Downbelow's Gaya island dive station

The first of 3 groups of UK Gap Year students arrived at the Downbelow PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Centre this weekend, where Managing Director and resident PADI Course Director Richard Swann was on hand to welcome them.

During July we are hosting 3 groups of British Gap Year students, who will travel all the way to Sabah to experience some awesome Borneo adventure.

First order of business, of course, is to learn how to dive, which the Gap Year students will be doing while camping right next to our dive centre on the tropical island of Pulau Gaya.

“Million star accommodation”, as Richard calls it, due to the fact that on a clear night, when you poke your head from under the tent canopy, the stars a clear and bright.

Over the next 10 days Richard and his crew of pro PADI instructors will conduct a total of 24 PADI Open Water courses, 5 PADI Advanced Open Water courses and 31 AWARE Coral Reef Conservation courses, peppered with a generous sprinkling of fun diving for the Gap Year students.

Under the fun wings of Downbelow’s island crew, there is much fun to be had by the Gap Year students.
