Downbelow responded to an illegal fishing net caught on a reef in the TAR Park in January 2011.

The net was reported to Richard who quickly formulated a plan, getting together a team to deal with the problem and take many pictures for our official report to Sabah Parks.

Successfully removing the entire menace from the area, the 80m+ long net was one of the worst we have encountered.

Not only was it smothering the delicate corals like a carpet, but large amounts of the net were sitting up in midwater catching all kinds of marine life.

We were able to not only remove it but also save many creatures such as crabs, stonefish & various other victims.
