Another positive development in the fight against shark finning as Hong Kong released a statement that shark fin will no longer be allowed to be served during official government functions in the country.
The ban not only covers shark fin but another endangered species as well which is the bluefin tuna.
As has been widely reported, millions of sharks are being killed each year for their fins while bluefin tuna saw their numbers went down by half over the past four decades.
This is indeed good news and we hope other countries will take heed from Hong Kong’s initiative and follow suit.
