The Downbelow Marine & Wildlife month-long marine debris cleanup & awareness campaign where our awesome Downbelow staff team came together and cleaned the beaches of Gaya daily for the entire month has been completed.
The responsibility to keep the area clean falls under the local authorities however as a conservation-minded company we are always happy to assist & do so on a daily basis all year round. This month however all of us made an extra effort.
We conducted the beach cleanup each day as part of our commitment to marine conservation & also to support the Project AWARE Foundation’s “Marine Debris Awareness” drive for the month of September.
Trash in our ocean is a global problem requiring global solutions & cannot be blamed on any specific local community, its a result of modern day lifestyles, we all play our part. We collect rubbish from the ocean everyday & much of this debris originated far from our shores however we are the ones who have to clean it up!
All of us can support nature’s cause by using recyclable bags when shopping & generally reducing our plastic usage. If we do not use plastic it cannot end up in the ocean!
Please also consider the general waste you may create that will ultimately end up in our seas & do practice good habits to help reduce the global problem of marine debris.
Special thanks to our staff team for working so hard this month & the Project AWARE Foundation for inspiring the September month awareness campaign.
