Kota Kinabalu, Sabah: Downbelow has 2 new interns on Gaya Island, currently working their way up to Divemaster with one of our customised Professional Divemaster Internships.

First Steps: freshly Open Water qualified Andy and Denise with Instructor Lester in the middle.Andy and Denise, from the UK, are joining us for 2 months at the end of which they would have qualified as Divemasters.

Why, might you ask, will it take them 2 months to complete our PADI Divemaster Internship, when it’s stated on our website that it only takes 1 month?

Well, Andy and Denise joined us as swimmers, rather than already qualified Open Water divers with the other prerequisites needed for entry into our 1 Month – PADI Divemaster Internship.

This is where Downbelow’s ability to tailor-make our packages for our customers come in handy, because Downbelow could accommodate them by customising a Divemaster internship to suit their needs.

Getting qualified is only part of the internship though, as qualifying as a Divemaster also requires a minimum of 60 logged dives.

Again, Downbelow is unbeatable in this area, because our PADI 5 Star IDC Dive Centre is based on Gaya island, from where we dive every day.

Logging dives in the Tunku Abdul Rahman Park is not only as easy as stepping off the jetty near the dive centre, but with over 25 other, nearby dive sites around the park, and our 3, fast, custom-made dive boats servicing our guests, it’s a pleasure as well.

With Downbelow’s unlimited diving as a feature of our internships, Andy and Denise will be able to log dives as quickly, or as leisurely, as they want.

We look forward to guiding our newest interns on the path to becoming Divemasters and wish them luck.
