Downbelow had the best day ever with the awesome students from the Faculty of Hotel & Tourism Management, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) celebrating World Environment Day with awareness & education along with action.
The activity of the day was called “Clean, Care & Conserve” – Love Earth Thru Society.
The day was structured into three key sessions so after a welcome from Downbelow Managing Director Richard Swann we embarked on a Beach Clean, Ocean Snorkel Session & Coral Education Presentation.
We joined forces & actively cleaned the beaches to really make a difference then Downbelow team took all participants on a snorkel session to see & clean the coral reef so the students could really appreciate the beauty of their local environment of Sabah.
Lastly the DB team presented the AWARE Coral Reef Conservation Speciality to the fun loving group where we all discussed the importance of reefs to our planet.
We used the Project AWARE (non profit foundation) platform to raise awareness to many of the challenges our Ocean faces as clearly education is the way forward & who better to share it with than the young students of the University :)
We can honestly say this was one of the most fun days I have had for a long time & we just love the Uni’s concept of using social media to spread the educational message to the World & we can’t wait to support this group again :)
