Proboscis monkeys (nasalis larvatus) live only in Borneo.
These wonderful monkeys inhabit costal mangrove, swamps and riverine forests, but due to the extensive loss of their habitat, Proboscis monkeys are classified as near extinction.
Proboscis monkeys are easily identified by the male’s large protruding nose. Proboscis monkeys live in small groups with a dominant male and his harem. Bachelor males form small groups of their own.
Proboscis monkeys are excellent climbers and swimmers and have been observed walking upright in an in-line formation.
