In March Downbelow welcomed back the Glamorgan University, based in Wales, to our little tropical paradise here on Gaya Island in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
The students visited as part of a Tropical Ecology module that forms part of their chosen University courses, be it either a Bachelors or Masters degree program.
Last year 30 participants enjoyed the program so much that the professors have returned with another 40 for a 16 day/night stay.
During this time the divers learned how to map and study reefs and count and size fish along with various other underwater research field skills that will be useful when they conduct real life research in the future.
Under the guidance of our own resident marine biologist and PADI Course Director, Richard, and the Downbelow Instructor team, the Glamorgan Uni students were in very good hands.
